Scouting Challenge Day

Troop 880 of the Newport - Derby area is having a Scouting Challenge day on Saturday, December 3 at the Holland School, from 12 p.m. - 3 p.m. Bring a team or be part of a Patrol. Boys or girls grades six to 10 are asked to come and compete. Events include things like archery, compass, knots, casting, gaga pit, and many more. There will be many skills to test your knowledge and to challenge your team’s minds. There will be plenty of food and fun to go around.

Troop 880 is recruiting new youth to the scouting program. This troop tries to do outdoor events monthly and meets Monday nights from 7 8:30 p.m. currently at Agape House of Mercy in Derby. (Formerly Derby Green Nursing Home) Troop 880 would like youth’s from the entire Northeast Kingdom to participate. We enjoy camping, canoeing, bicycling, hiking, fishing, repelling, learning skills (like ‘no trace’ camping), wilderness survival, first aid, knots and lashing, and much, much more. This troop attends camporees, Klondike derbies, summer camp, and they go do other scouting activities statewide as well as learn over 130 merit badge subjects, leadership, and lifelong skills while earning ranks. Please bring a guardian or parent to the challenge day. Parents-scouts are needed.
